The 2023 Award Ceremony took place on May 4th at The Royal College of Physicians in Dublin, and was
attended by the Minister for Education Norma Foley, TD. Over 100 people attended the ceremony, including
the winning students, their teachers, principals, deputy principals, guidance counsellors and parents.
The winning entries were selected from an impressive shortlist that included a diverse range of occupations
from across all sectors of the economy. Close to 1,000 students entered the competition, from 124 schools
across the country.
33 students made it to the shortlist, representing 28 schools. Ana Isabel Cámara Gutiérrez, of Our Ladies
College, Drogheda, Co. Louth won the Languages Connect category, taking home a MacBook Air.
Impact:

Increased awareness among key stakeholders within the guidance sector of the importance of languages
in the context of study and career options
•
Significant engagement with online resources on the CareersPortal.ie website, including 330,241
Languages Sector Page views and 19,125 Language Tile visits by sector.
Next Steps:
•
Continue to increase collaboration, and explore additional opportunities for engagement, with all relevant
stakeholders including guidance counsellors, IGC, CareersPortal.ie and other professional support
services.
