Overview:
PPLI exhibited at many student events during 2023, including Higher Options and School Summit. The team
engaged with students, teachers, parents, and guidance counsellors and provided information and resources
about options for studying languages for Senior Cycle, and at third level, in addition to discussing the career
and personal benefits of language skills.
Main Aims:
•
Raise awareness of the many personal, social and career benefits of language skills and create enthusiasm
among students
•
Raise awareness of the various supports and resources that PPLI offers for studying languages for Senior
Cycle
•
Provide resources and information regarding opportunities to study languages at third level
•
Gather insights from students, teachers, and guidance counsellors regarding languages and resources
Activity:
PPLI exhibited at Higher Options, which took place over three days, 20-22 September, at RDS Simmonscourt,
and School Summit, an event for TY, 5th, and 6th year students, which took place on 27 and 28 April at the
National Indoor Arena in Blanchardstown.
Higher Options was attended by approximately 29,000 students, teachers, parents, and guidance counsellors,
with stands from employers and third level institutions nationwide. It is a valuable forum for meeting
students and discussing how they see languages in their life, education, and future career. School Summit
Dublin is a smaller scale event, drawing in approximately a thousand students.
