National #ThinkLanguages Champion Team Winners 2023
The calibre of entries for the #ThinkLanguages Champion Team Competition was exceptionally high in 2023.
Judges visited ten shortlisted schools during #ThinkLanguages Week and were extremely impressed by the
standard of festivals across the country. The judges then selected three finalist teams who would present to a
panel of judges on the prizegiving day at the Department of Education. The #ThinkLanguages 2023
Champion Team finalists were Our Lady of Mercy, Waterford; Killarney Community College; and Our Lady’s
Bower, Athlone. The three teams presented on what they had learned from their experience. All put a
commendable amount of work into the event management of their festivals, as well as into their final
presentations, by which the judging panel was thoroughly impressed. Everyone attending the event
commented on the students’ top quality presentation skills, their creativity, and their obvious passion for
languages.
Minister for Education Norma Foley TD presented the Champion Team of the Year 2023 from Our Lady’s
Bower, Athlone with their trophy and prize of a trip to Brussels. The students and teachers really appreciated
and enjoyed the opportunity to meet the Minister and the visit to the Department buildings.
