DCU Languages Week was held in March 2023. Each day included a language taster class, followed by a
practical, interactive cultural workshop. The target audience was 5th year students. Events included a
Spanish language taster session, Latin American Dance workshop, Japanese language taster session, KPop workshop, German language taster session and German theatre workshop and French taster session.
There was also a Languages Week Competition for 5th year students.

Student campus visits to DCU in January 2023

DCU Futures Languages Week took place 25-29 September 2023. There was a week-long series of taster
language sessions with an associated practical culture workshop.
Maynooth University
•
Maynooth University Speaks Languages: Campus Experience 2022-2023 was held in April 2023. The target
audience was TY students, and the aim was for students to attend an on-campus session that showcased
what the School of Modern Languages, Literatures and Cultures (SMLLC) offers to prospective students of
Chinese, French, German and Spanish. Attendees were given a campus tour, and prospective students
were provided with an overview of as well as the opportunity to experience the different language and
culture programmes and modules.

Three promotional videos were filmed in June to promote the Masters in Applied Linguistics and
Intercultural Studies (MALIS). The videos include interviews with students who have completed the MALIS
and provide information on the programme and the further education or employment prospects for
graduates.

Student language ambassadors visited St Finian’s College Mullingar.
•
Student language ambassadors also gave talks at the New Year check-in with all first-year students of
Spanish. This was part of a pilot project to encourage retention and support students.
