The PPLI stand was very well attended. Teaching and learning resources created by PPLI in German, French
and Spanish, as well as the lesser taught languages such as Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Lithuanian, Mandarin
Chinese and Japanese, were extremely popular.
Teachers were pleased to receive language activity packs, booklets packed with ideas for language classes in
TY and the Senior Cycle, posters, and a wide range of samples of language mats, language fold-outs and
badges which can be ordered for their students. White board sets for use with students in the classroom, were
also, as expected, in high demand.
There was significant interest in the introduction of foreign languages in primary schools and the ‘Say Yes to
Languages’ project. Participants were interested in this topic not only as teachers, but also as parents of
children in this age group.
The stand was a great opportunity to meet a large team of PPLI teachers who provide language classes in
Irish schools throughout the country as well as hundreds of other Summit participants. Thanks to numerous
discussions it was possible to obtain valuable feedback on PPLI resources and find out what is helpful and
works best during language classes.
The interest and engagement from teachers was an extremely positive and enriching experience for all on
the stand which provided inspiration to further promote and support language teaching and learning
among this community.
