7 ITE Providers
Overview:
Throughout 2023, PPLI continued collaborations with Initial Teacher Education (ITE) providers and students
preparing to become language teachers.
Main Aims:
•
Engage with ITE providers and collaborate on projects to build capacity for future language teachers
•
Raise awareness of the work and supports provided by PPLI amongst pre-service teachers
•
Make resources and supports for best practice and continuing professional development readily
accessible
Activity:
PPLI continued to provide guest lectures and training
sessions to a range of ITE providers during the
academic year. In September 2023, PPLI facilitated the
largest collaboration to date with this sector by inviting
all future language teachers from Year 4 of
undergraduate education programmes (BEds), and
postgraduate masters in education students (PME Professional Master of Education), from University College
Dublin, Dublin City University, Trinity College Dublin,
University of Limerick, University College Cork, University of
Galway, and Maynooth University to a day of upskilling on
CLIL held in Maynooth University. For more information on
