Languages Provision
Overall Impact of Language Provision: Increase in engagement in languages provided by PPLI
The number of students sitting the Lithuanian, Mandarin Chinese, Portuguese and Polish Leaving Certificate
exams since they were introduced as curricular languages continues to increase year-on-year as shown in the
graph below.
There was a very significant increase in the number of students taking the Leaving Certificate Russian exam
in 2024, with a total of 855 sits compared to just 521 in 2023.
