Japanese at University College Dublin (UCD)
In Dublin, students learnt about Japanese language and culture. They tried Japanese manga, Taiko drumming,
experienced a Japanese school sports day, tried origami and enjoyed a trip to the Japanese Gardens at the Irish
National Stud. They had a Taiko performance on the last day.
Polish in Cavan
In Cavan, students had a different focus each day including Nicolaus Copernicus; famous Polish women; painter
Jan Matejko; a sports day including presentations on Polish athletes, national bards; Polish movies, etc. The final
day included a picnic, games, a photo booth, certificates and prizes.
Lithuanian in Monaghan
Students explored mythology, history, traditions, music and dance, made t-shirts and tried on traditional dress,
tried pottery, had cookery sessions, a sports day, watched a Lithuanian film, went to a folk museum, and
welcomed the Lithuanian ambassador.
