Overview:
PPLI and the European Commission Representation in Ireland jointly hosted a Culture Night event at Europe
House to celebrate both Culture Night and the European Day of Languages. The event ofered language
taster classes in 18 diferent languages, providing a unique opportunity for the public to explore linguistic
diversity and experience languages in an engaging, informal setting.
Main Aims:
•
Make a wide variety of language taster classes available through a large-scale public event.
•
Promote the importance and visibility of foreign languages through national cultural platforms.
•
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of Austria, Finland, and Sweden joining the EU by ofering German,
Finnish, and Swedish.
•
Combine Culture Night and European Day of Languages activities to maximise visibility and participation.
Activity:
Two events were held in 2025:
Culture Night - Europe House, Dublin (19 September)
Participants were invited to attend in person, either by preregistering or dropping in. Ten languages were
ofered as part of the programme: Arabic, Chinese, Croatian, German, Japanese, Irish Sign Language (ISL),
Polish, Portuguese, Spanish, and Swedish. The event formed part of a European Cultural Trail coordinated
