Much of PPLI9s work is grounded in research. Research supports monitoring, evaluation, and strategic
development. Staf are encouraged to present nationally and internationally to share ondings and strengthen
academic and professional networks.
Senior Cycle Redevelopment Conference for School Leaders
In February 2025, PPLI took part in the Senior Cycle Redevelopment Conference for School Leaders in Dublin.
This event brought together school leaders and Senior Cycle stakeholders to engage with ongoing
developments in Senior Cycle education. PPLI engaged directly with attendees on the role of modern foreign
languages within Senior Cycle, contributing to sector-wide discussions and strengthening links with school
leadership and Department of Education and Youth representatives.
Departament d’Educació de Catalunya (Barcelona)
In May 2025, Kenia Puig was invited to present Irish approaches to promoting linguistic diversity at postprimary level. She delivered a presentation outlining PPLI9s work within the Languages Connect strategy and
facilitated a workshop for Catalan school leaders on using the ILAOS self-evaluation toolkit for whole-school
language development.
World CLIL 2025
In June 2025, Laura Quigley presented on Navigating CLIL Implementation and Transforming MFL Teacher
Practice in Ireland: Insights from a National Pilot at World CLIL 2025, held at Maynooth University. Wanlin Li, PPLI
Development Oocer, presented Enhancing Learning for Students with Dyslexia: A Story with Mandarin and CLIL
on behalf of PPLI9s research team.
API Education Forum (Association for Plurilingualism and Interculturality Education Forum)
In September 2025, Kenia Puig delivered an invited presentation contributing to cross-European dialogue on
plurilingual, intercultural, and CEFR-informed education.
Ireland Arabic Education Institute - Qatar Foundation International (UCD)
Kenia Puig was invited by Qatar Foundation International to present at the inaugural Ireland Arabic
Education Institute on 28-29 October 2025. She spoke on national language-education reforms and supports
for developing Arabic as a modern foreign language.
IRAAL Annual Conference 2025
On 21 November 2025, Karen Ruddock presented The Impact of PPLI on Language Education in Ireland:
Learning from the past, looking into the future. Salvo Cacciato, partnered with Jane O'Toole of Scoil Chrónáin,
also presented PPLI research on the Say Yes to Languages programme: Say Yes to Languages: Paving the Way
for the Introduction of MFL to the Primary School Curriculum.
