Overview:
MS Readathon encourages children to read as many books as possible throughout November while raising
funds for Multiple Sclerosis Ireland (MS Ireland). PPLI has collaborated with MS Ireland for six years by
sponsoring a prize in a special foreign language category, supporting both language learning and literacy.
Main Aims:
•
Encourage children to read in a language other than English or Irish.
•
Promote the importance of reading in a heritage language to parents.
•
Increase awareness of both MS Readathon and the Say Yes to Languages primary module through crosspromotion.
Activity:
Languages Connect promoted MS Readathon through its communication channels and encouraged young
people to read and review books in a foreign language. The competition allowed children to submit reviews
of any number of books in the language of their choice.
