Overview:
PPLI provides guidance counsellors with clear, up-to-date resources to support conversations with students
and parents about modern foreign languages (MFL), subject choice, and pathways into further study and
careers. Through extensive collaboration with national stakeholders, PPLI works to ensure schools have the
information required to guide students efectively at key transition points.
Main Aims:
•
Increase awareness among guidance counsellors of the personal and professional beneots of learning a
foreign language.
•
Provide relevant information to support discussions on MFL subject options and school-based provision.
•
Work with stakeholders to disseminate information and supports to counsellors, students, parents, and
school communities.
Activity:
Throughout 2025, PPLI continued to promote Languages Connect guidance resources across digital and inperson platforms.
In March 2025, PPLI exhibited at the Institute of Guidance Counsellors (IGC) Annual Conference in Mullingar,
which had over 400 attendees. PPLI Associates with expertise in guidance counselling supported the stand
and delivered a workshop titled: Empowering Futures: Language Learning for Careers, Wellbeing, and Heritage
Identity. The workshop highlighted how language learning supports employability, intercultural skills,
wellbeing, and heritage identity. Attendance at the conference was also an opportunity to distribute the
updated resource titled
