8 Online Information Sessions
Overview:
In order to strengthen communication with students, parents and guardians in relation to Leaving Certiocate
language pathways, PPLI delivered a programme of online information sessions in 2025. These sessions
focused on both more recently introduced and lesser-taught curricular languages, as well as the Leaving
Certiocate Ukrainian non-curricular examination, which was introduced for the orst time in June 2025.
These sessions aimed to familiarise attendees with relevant curriculum documents and state examination
information.
Main Aims:
•
Raise awareness among parents and students of key supports and information available from PPLI and
other agencies.
•
Support parents of current and potential students of the more recently introduced and lesser-taught
curricular languages.
•
Inform and engage stakeholders on key developments in the new speciocations.
Activity:
In 2025, PPLI delivered ove online information sessions for parents and students interested in the more
recently introduced and lesser-taught Leaving Certiocate curricular languages, including Lithuanian,
Mandarin Chinese, Polish, Portuguese and Russian. A total of 358 attendees participated. The sessions
covered curriculum speciocations, supporting documentation, state examination requirements and efective
study practices at school and at home. Promotion was carried out through local community networks, social
media channels and relevant embassies.
PPLI also delivered targeted Leaving Certiocate examination preparation support for students of Russian for
the second consecutive year. An online session delivered through Russian attracted 82 registrations from ofth
and sixth-year students.
In parallel, PPLI supported students preparing for the Leaving Certiocate Ukrainian non-curricular
examination through three dedicated online information sessions delivered in January, October and
November 2025. A total of 500 participants registered across these sessions. To complement the sessions,
PPLI developed and translated a dedicated information sheet, providing clear guidance for students on how
to prepare for the examination.
Across all sessions, PPLI used the opportunity to highlight its Leaving Certiocate classes, which support
students studying languages outside the school system and foster a sense of community among learners.
