June 2025 — DECODE Network Meeting
PPLI attended the network meeting for Developing competences for
democratic culture for young learners through language education (DECODE).
The project focuses on implementing the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture
(2018) in primary language education.
The project aims to create practical digital classroom materials and implementation guidelines that foster
competences for democratic culture through plurilingual and intercultural approaches.
October 2025 — Pluriliteracies Network Meeting
PPLI was represented at the meeting of Pluriliteracies for global citizenship deeper learning in the foreign language classroom Plurilitcit. The project supports deeper learning, integration
of language and content, and the development of pluriliteracies for global citizenship—a priority for many
ECML member states
including Ireland.
The project aligns closely with Ireland9s strategic focus on language-and-content integration and intercultural
understanding.
November 2025 — AI for Language Education Workshop
PPLI participated in the ECML workshop AI for Language Education. The workshop explored the ethical,
meaningful and context-sensitive integration of artiocial intelligence in language education, including
emerging European guidance and implications for curriculum, assessment and teacher professional learning.
This work supported Ireland9s preparedness for ethical and pedagogically grounded AI integration.
2025 — Pilot of the Self-Evaluation Instrument
Ireland, through PPLI, was invited to
pilot the orst version of a selfevaluation instrument designed to
help public authorities review
progress in implementing
CM/Rec(2022)1 on plurilingual and
intercultural education. The piloted
section focused on lower-secondary
education.
PPLI9s involvement renects its role in
advancing plurilingual and
intercultural education in the Irish
post-primary system. Insights
gathered will support evidenceinformed planning for future
strategic developments within
Languages Connect.
