Foreword
I am pleased to introduce this Annual Report of Post Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI), which highlights the
organisation9s continued contribution to strengthening language learning and multilingualism across Ireland9s
education system. The work set out in this report renects a clear commitment to inclusion, quality, innovation
and collaboration—principles that are central to my priorities as Minister for Education and Youth.
Languages play a vital role in equipping young people with the skills they need to thrive in a rapidly changing
world. They support communication, cultural understanding, cognitive development and wellbeing, while also
opening pathways to further study, mobility and employment at home and abroad. Ensuring that all learners
have access to diverse language learning opportunities is essential to delivering a world class, inclusive
education system.
This report demonstrates the breadth and impact of PPLI9s work in supporting diversioed models of language
provision and quality professional support to teachers and learners. Through in school, shared, online, blended
and alternative delivery models, PPLI continues to respond to the needs of schools and learners, particularly
where access to languages would otherwise be limited. The focus on equity of access, heritage languages and
emerging curricular provision renects a strong alignment with national policy priorities and demographic
realities.
I appreciate the ongoing work to support schools and teachers with the introduction of modern foreign
languages in the primary curriculum. Programmes such as Say Yes to Languages and #ThinkLanguages Week,
student events, cultural collaborations and guidance resources are helping young people, parents and schools
