Italian at University of Galway
In Galway, students learnt Italian language, created masks for the Venetian carnival, had a VR experience,
created their own Botticelli work of art, made pizza, learned how to subtitle and dub cartoons, played Italian
sports and games, had music sessions, watched a classic olm, put on a onal show
and created a video of their two week summer camp experience.

Impact:

The camps provided strong visibility for lesser-taught languages within universities, supporting pathways
into language study at third level.

Many students reported increased motivation to continue the language at Leaving Certiocate or beyond.

Camps received an average rating of 4.6 out of 5.
•
When asked about future study, 46% of students said they planned to continue the language, and 48%
