Goal 2 - Moving Forward
PPLI will continue to prioritise a coherent, high quality model of professional learning that
supports Development Oocers working across increasingly diverse teaching contexts,
languages and delivery modes. As provision expands across face to face, online and
blended environments, sustained investment in structured induction, mentoring and
diferentiated CPD will remain central to ensuring consistency, quality and teacher
conodence.
Building on the positive impact of the integrated professional learning model, PPLI will
further strengthen induction and onboarding pathways for newly appointed teachers,
ensuring early and supported engagement with curriculum speciocations, assessment
practices, whole school collaboration and PPLI systems. Emphasis will continue to be
placed on mentoring, school visits and classroom observation as core supports for
professional growth and renective practice.
Diferentiated CPD pathways will be further developed to respond to teachers9 levels of
experience, language background and teaching context. This will include targeted support
for teachers delivering lesser taught and more recently introduced Leaving Certiocate
languages, as well as advanced professional learning opportunities for experienced
teachers, including those working in online and blended settings. Language specioc CPD
and Communities of Practice will remain key mechanisms for sustaining curriculum
coherence, sharing efective practice and supporting subject development nationally.
As digital and blended provision continues to expand, PPLI will build on existing training to
further support teacher capacity in online pedagogy, assessment, Universal Design for
Learning and the efective integration of AI to enhance teaching and learning. Practical
follow up supports, including clinics and peer exchange, will continue to be embedded to
support implementation in real classroom contexts.
Supporting teacher well being, professional conodence and collaboration will remain a
priority. Opportunities for peer learning, observation, teacher led contributions and whole
team engagement, will continue to be strengthened to support a sustainable and
connected professional community.
PPLI will also continue to support teachers in progressing Teaching Council registration,
particularly in the context of internationally qualioed teachers and lesser taught languages
where national capacity remains limited. This work is essential to sustaining provision
across multiple models and supporting the long term development of language education
in Ireland.
