Through ongoing review, feedback and engagement with the wider Modern Foreign
Languages community, PPLI will ensure that professional learning remains responsive,
evidence informed and aligned with national policy priorities, supporting high quality
language teaching and learning across all contexts of provision
The Language Upskilling Scheme for primary teachers will gradually be expanded to
support more teachers with developing an appropriate level of competence and
conodence to prepare to enact the Primary Language Curriculum. Additional providers and
opportunities will continue to be explored and leveraged. The 8Say Yes to Languages9
programme will continue to prepare the ground for the introduction of foreign languages
in the primary curriculum, support the raising of awareness among pupils of the range of
languages used by their peers, and encourage uptake of a foreign language in postprimary. Resources will also be developed to support teachers with enactment of the
curriculum.
