Participating schools were sent printed starter packs including a handbook and promotional posters. They
also received full event kits customised for the number of participating students in the school.
Opening Ceremony
A new #ThinkLanguages Opening Ceremony video was created in 2025 featuring an inspiring combination of
speakers sharing their language learning journeys and explaining how languages had furthered their careers
and enhanced their lives. PPLI led the full end-to-end development of the Opening Ceremony, shaping the
creative direction, including storyboarding, scripting, and securing speakers. The team oversaw all stages of
production—from olming to editing—while ensuring the content aligned with #ThinkLanguages and
Languages Connect messaging.
The 2025 Opening Ceremony included inspiring contributions from people across diverse oelds who have
beneotted from language skills in their daily lives. Presenters Seán Ó Maoilchiaráin and Laura Packenham
speak with each guest about their experiences and advice for success. Gráinne Mullins, founder of the awardwinning Grá chocolates, shares how her French skills helped shape her business journey. Erasmus student
Shane Hurley ofered insight into his life in Italy and how Italian has broadened his horizons, while student
Eleanor Dunne gave her perspective on working abroad in Germany. Coach Ozzy energised students with
Portuguese language-based movement, and Méabh McMahon, Chief Anchor at Euronews, renected on how
languages enabled her to travel the world and build a career in international journalism. Finally, JapaneseIrish innuencer and polyglot Yuji Beleza highlighted how languages have helped him forge friendships, build
connections, and bridge cultural divides.
National Quiz
The #ThinkLanguages online national quiz was facilitated again in 2025, with 1,400+ teams taking part and a
high level of engagement, attracting participation from 5,600 students. The quiz, a orm favourite with
students, provides students and schools the opportunity to compete against each other and against the
clock in a test of languages knowledge.
The element of competition, both local and national, always adds a sense of excitement. The quiz ran twice
daily during #ThinkLanguages Week, giving schools the nexibility to hold it at the most appropriate time for
them.
