So many Leaving Certificate
languages to choose from
You may not have realised how many options
there are if you want to study a language for
the Leaving Certificate! For example, did you
know that you can take Mandarin Chinese,
Lithuanian, Polish, or Portuguese? They are
curricular languages, which means that there
is an aural, oral, and written exam.
Any European Union language (and Ukrainian)
not available as a curricular subject is available
as a non-curricular examination paper. See
examinations.ie for more information. Both
curricular and non-curricular languages count
towards third-level entry requirements.
