Week 4:
Listen to a Song and Learn the Chorus
Find a song in your chosen language, translate the chorus, and try
singing or saying it out loud.
Reflection prompt: What did the lyrics teach me about the culture?
Week 5:
Order Food (or Pretend to!)
Learn how to order your favourite food in your chosen language (in a
café or takeaway). Practise it with a friend or record a role-play.
Reflection prompt: What words or phrases would I need in real life?
Week 6:
Try a Recipe from the Country
Pick a recipe from a country where the language you are learning is
spoken — and cook it! Choose a recipe in your preferred language and
use a dictionary if needed. Take a photo of your dish.
Reflection prompt: Did I learn any food words or cooking verbs?
Week 7:
Design Your Dream Holiday
Plan a holiday to where your new language is spoken. Where would
you go? What would you do? What time of year? Find keywords and
travel vocabulary to describe your trip.
Reflection prompt: What words do I need for travelling?
Week 8:
Play a Game in the Language
Try Duolingo, LyricsTraining, or a simple language learning game
online. Or, change the language on your phone/console for the day!
Reflection prompt: What game or setting helped me most?
