The launch of the Language Speciocation within the redeveloped
Primary School Curriculum (September 2025) ensures modern
foreign languages are embedded in primary schools in Ireland,
renecting Ireland’s multilingual reality.
Across Europe:
In most European countries, pupils already learn one
or more foreign languages from primary school.
Ireland is now aligning with
this approach.
