Activity Pack
Whether your school has participated
in Say Yes to Languages every year
since 2021 or this is your first time
engaging with the programme, here
is a selection of activities to promote
curiosity, plurilingual and pluricultural
awareness, and language learning fun
to pupils of all ages. It is designed to
be accessible for everyone and does
not require you to have language
knowledge to facilitate the activities.
All the activities offer options for French, Spanish,
German, and Italian, as these are the most chosen
languages in Say Yes to Languages. However, feel
free to include any of the languages of your classes
and school community. These activities are an
invitation for you to join us in celebrating languages
in all their forms!
Remember, you do not need to come
up with every idea on your own
There are many places you can look for inspiration:
• PPLI/Languages Connect online resource pages:
The resources section of our website, accessible
from this link Languages Connect Primary
Module Resources, contains ideas, easy-to-use
classroom games, vocabulary-building activities,
and printable materials in the MFL Teacher Notes,
Language Adventures, Vocabulary-Building
Activities, and Say Yes to Languages Fold-Out
to name a few. Other ideas can be found in two
Padlets at the following links Say Yes to Languages
Padlet and Say Yes to Languages.
• You can adapt ideas from your own experience:
simple songs, vocabulary games, or group
challenges often transfer well into another
language.
• Everyday items found in the home, classroom
objects, or even food packaging can be a source
of inspiration, providing simple and engaging
ways to introduce new words.
