Number cup race
Take ten paper cups and mark each one with a number from one to ten written in full in the target language.
• Place the cups upside down to make them easier to move around.
• Mix them up and get students to put them in the correct numerical order. You could also encourage
parents to take part.
• Have two or more sets available to turn it into a race between players/teams.
• It is helpful to have a visual aid with the numbers in the target language nearby to support learners. You
could print a note with instructions necessary for the activity and include a visual reference, such as a
number line or matching activity sheet, showing the numbers 1–10 in the target language. This helps
reinforce recognition and supports learners who may need a prompt.
Language promotion badges activity
• Provide homemade badges/stickers for incoming students.
• Have a list of useful phrases in the target language available and invite students to choose one to write on
their badge using a marker.
• These badges can then be worn as they walk around the school, helping to promote language learning in a
fun and visible way.

• Collaborate with TY students:

subjects, or hobbies. They could even illustrate them or create themed sets (e.g.
