This micro-module aims to:

develop students' awareness and appreciation of languages, cultures and multilingualism.
encourage students to recognise the personal, social and future opportunities associated
with language learning.
foster respect, inclusion and intercultural understanding through engagement with the
linguistic and cultural diversity of their school and local community.
support students to collaboratively plan and deliver a #ThinkLanguages event that
celebrates languages and cultures in a way that reflects their own school context.
Time allocation
This micro-module is designed for a minimum of 10 hours of class contact time. The learning
and activities selected should be appropriate to the time available. Schools may choose to
extend the learning over a longer period, allowing students additional opportunities to
engage with partner organisations, guest speakers, and cultural institutes.
The micro-module has been designed to be flexible, enabling schools to adapt the learning
experiences to their own context and to students' interests, abilities and needs.
Learning Outcomes
The learning outcomes below are designed to promote teaching and learning that develop
students9 knowledge, skills, values and dispositions incrementally, enabling them to apply
their key competencies to different situations as they progress. The right-hand column
contains learning outcomes which describe the knowledge, skills, values and dispositions
students should be able to demonstrate after a period of learning. The left-hand column
outlines specific areas that students learn about. Taken together, these provide clarity and
coherence with the other sections of the micro-module.
The learning outcomes are numbered to support teacher planning. It does not imply any
hierarchy of importance across the outcomes themselves.
